I don't think your procedure is applicable because when the door is opened to take out the ink, it does not register that, and the carriage does not move to the ink maintenance position because it is already blinking an error, as after being turned on, that is when it immediately grabs the paper and whips it in and partly out. The only difference all this made is that now when the paper pulls through, it "snaps" through very quickly and will just stop at a random place, and then flashes error like before. I realized also that the ribbon sensors that I cleaned before (see above post) must be read by something on the ink carriage. It looks slightly smaller than a clothes pin (the spring kind) with a metal lining. There is only one left that goes to what may be a sensor. Some goes to AC, some to USB, 2 pairs go to 2 different motors, and some goes to the ink carriage. I got it apart and traced all the wiring.
